OUT & ABOUT
Sometimes Goldstone guests get the wanderlust. They nip over the border
to Chester for a taste of Cheshire heritage and cheese (made in Shropshire,
naturally). Or maybe they pursue the historical bug to Ironbridge,
that magnetic cradle of the Industrial Revolution, where the Ironmasters
blew the flames of Hell into the night sky.

Some
drive to Shrewsbury for a little shopping in the shuts and
alleyways of this enchanting medieval market town. Others trip to
Hawkstone Park and marvel, with Doctor Samuel Johnson, “.
. . at its prospects . . . the verdures of its hollows and the
loftiness of its rocks.”

Back, pleasantly tired, to a pre-prandial drink, a
memorable supper, some convivial conversation and a good night's
sleep.

"After dinner, we managed to solve all the problems of the world.
They should run the next G8 Summit at Goldstone Hall."
For those looking to explore Shropshire in more detail, Shropshire
Tourism produces a small, but beautifully designed pamphlet containing
a plethora of splendid ideas of what to see and what to do, including
our Shropshire
Gardens & Nurseries that are not to be sniffed at - no, that can't be right!
