Goldstone Hall’s large kitchen garden allows you to appreciate the hidden labour and care that contributes to flavourful dishes served in the restaurant. It’s a million miles away from picking pre-wrapped uniform goods from supermarket shelves, and puts most claims to food miles and cutting the carbon footprint to shame.
Here, plants have been patiently nurtured and lovingly tended until they are just right for picking, resulting in seasonal produce delivered fresh to the kitchen door for preparation that same day.
Kitchen garden expansions…..
After the success of the new herb walkway Head Gardener, Nick Huxley, is expanding the vegetable garden once again with new trellised walkways by cage 1. The final planting decisions are still in committee but horseradish and new plots for the Highland burgundy and pink fir apple potatoes have been agreed.
The original raised beds for the potatoes will be keeping Head Chef, Steven Blackshaw, in onions, shallots and garlic.
