The Kitchen Garden
Where food miles are negative
Goldstone Hall’s large kitchen garden allows you to appreciate the hidden labour and care that contributes to flavourful dishes served in the Restaurant. It’s a million miles away from picking pre-wrapped uniform goods from supermarket shelves.
Here, plants have been patiently nurtured and lovingly tended until they are just right for picking, resulting in seasonal produce delivered fresh to the kitchen door for preparation that same day.
At an acre and a half, the Kitchen Garden provides a massive proportion of Goldstone's vegetables and summer fruit needs.
The Herb Walk that surrounds it has over 100 different herbs and their sub species.
The sloping site drains well and the new Copper Beech hedges adds protection from the North and West. There is some tentative grape growing which will provide some local Autumn interest to the cheese board.
“The Goldstone Kitchen Garden is something else, Head Gardener Nick grows fresh top notch and often produce that you can’t get anywhere else. Here good and unusual are fresh and in abundance.” Head Chef, Chris Weatherstone.
