It’s rather strange how most hotels overlook the importance of their staff when talking about themselves, yet staff can make or break your visit.

Sure, the building and its furnishings are important, and location is critical – but unless the staff enjoy what they are doing, and gain satisfaction from a job well done, then your experience will be at best spoiled – and at worst ruined.

Even in a relatively small hotel, there is a busy army of unsung heroes – chef de parties, kitchen porters, housekeeping staff and gardeners who rarely get to meet guests but whose role is equally important in ensuring that a visitor’s experience is second to none.
